Segs4Vets awards Segways and ALLY Chair adapted Segways to men and women of the United States military who have sustained severe injuries resulting in permanent disability.

These tools are solving many of the mobility issues facing our disabled veterans in a manner that is both psychologically uplifting and physically beneficial. It rekindles the desire and the motivation for them to continue to serve themselves, their families and their communities. The impact of the program resonates well beyond ore recipients; it extends to their spouses, children, parents, family members and friends whose lives have also been turned upside down. www.Segs4Vets.org

Naples Take a Soldier Fishing is a nonprofit organization that brings together hundreds of active duty personnel, area veterans and volunteer boat captains to enjoy a day on the water where they can forget the stress and worries of their service for a few hours. The annual tournament which includes in-shore and off-shore fishing pairs our heroes with boat captains for a weekend-long tournament complete with a hotel stay, the fishing tournament, awards banquet and camaraderie. www.naplestakeasoldierfishing.com

GULF COAST VETERANS & FRIENDS

Gulf Coast Veterans & Friends are “Embracing Those Who Served” by fulfilling our 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization’s mission of providing support, as well as mentoring and fostering relationships between our local veterans and our community. The charity’s goal is to encourage veteran-to-veteran camaraderie, identify needs and gaps in current veteran resources and work to improve them on an individual basis, form support groups and provide social event opportunities for our local veterans. The organization hosts the “Famous Table” at Fire Station 48, welcoming veterans for bottomless coffee, pastries, a hot homemade meal, submarines and fruit – all free of charge – because “we can never re-pay them for their service and our freedom.” www.gulfcoastvf.org
